Speeches

It is always a great pleasure to come back to my Alma Mater, Ghana's premier university, the University of Ghana, and to its beautiful campus, which brings a lot of very fond memories to me.

I am happy you have all been able to join us this morning, on what is an important occasion, i.e. the launch of the Nation Builders Corps, which will employ, in this year alone, 100,000 young men and women to assist in the public sector service delivery needs of our country.

Chairperson, I thank the organisers for the invitation to come here and participate in this summit. In the short period since I assumed the high office of President of the Republic of Ghana, I will have had the good fortune to address audiences in the three most celebrated institutions of higher learning in this country.

I thank the leadership of Organised Labour very much for the invitation to be here with you, as we mark the day set aside to celebrate workers around the world.

Fellow Ghanaians, I have come into your homes this evening to talk about a matter that has generated a lot of heat in our country these past days.
