The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will leave Ghana on Saturday, January 28, 2017, to attend the 28th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union, which is being held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The meeting of the Heads of State will take place from January 30 to January 31, 2017, under the theme, ‘Harnessing the Demographic Dividend through Investment in the Youth.’ The Summit will also elect a new Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
Prior to the commencement of the Ordinary Session of the Assembly on Monday, a retreat for the Heads of State will be held on Sunday, January 29, immediately after a breakfast meeting with the new Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres.
The President will return home on Wednesday, February 1, 2017.
