The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has received letters of credence from nine new Ambassadors and High Commissioners who are beginning their tour of duty in Ghana.
They are Mrs. Mariana Goncalves Madeira from the Federative Republic of Brazil, Mr Angel Lossada Torres-Quevedo from the Kingdom of Spain, Mrs Juliet Bynoe Sutherland from Barbados, Mr Roey Gilad from the State of Israel, Mr Khalid Jabr Saif Al-Mosallam from the State of Qatar and the Apostolic Nuncio, Very Reverend Monsignor Julien Kabore of the The Holy See.
The rest are, Ms Myriam Montrat from the Republic of Canada, Mr Jurgen Heissel from the Republic of Austria and Mr Gaston Gakoso from the Republic of Congo.
At separate presentation events on Thursday, November 7, 2024, the envoys pledged to work towards enhancing the already cordial relations between Ghana and their respective countries.
They also individually conveyed a message of congratulations from the Heads of States and leaders of their countries to Ghana upon the selection of Foreign Minister, Ayorkor Botchwey as Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations.
President Akufo-Addo, on his part alluded to the many years of friendship and cooperation between Ghana and their countries of origin and hoped that countries will find a way to “relate side by side” for global peace to prevail.
He espoused Ghana’s democratic credentials and her pole position as a beacon of peace and stability on the continent.
Present at the event were the Chief of Staff, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration and newly selected Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and officials of the Presidency and the Foreign Ministry.
